SUNDAY

Carol is improving but I’m still in her room with no laptop, so my information is limited.

  1. So glad to hear about Carol’s improvement. This is a big weekend for Will Wade and the the Cowboys as recruiting out of the portal continues as does work on scheduling which is tougher after last year’s success and this years recruiting.Cowgirl softball is now 2 games ahead of Southeastern which destroyed Lamar in all 3 games this weekend. We play them in a season ending 3 game series this weekend at home. Please come out and support the Cowgirls winning another championship. The UL game had over a 1000 in attendance.Let’s beat that. When we win 1 game we are champs.Tourney is at Southeastern so will be good to have top seed.

  2. Thanks for the update, Zem! I’ve been thinking and praying for Carol and the Zembowers. Take care of yourself and make sure you are getting plenty of rest.

Sterlington High won the Division III/non-select softball championship over a very tough Doyle yesterday. McNeese signee Maddie Taylor pitched a complete game giving up four hits and striking out two Lady Tigers. She also was responsible for the winning run as she drew a four-pitch walk in the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded. Sterlington suffered only one defeat this season to perennial power North DeSoto. Maddie will be a great addition to McNeese softball!

Shaelyn Sanders continues to shine for the Lady Pokes. She is the only truly consistent pitcher. Yesterday she outdueled Corpus pitcher Primrose. Sanders gave up 3 hits, walked one, and struck out NINE Islanders.

    Geaux Pokes!

  3. THANKS KR (Keith Romero) for answering last weeks editorial by a Hammond, La. writer who bashed our men’s basketball team. I don’t remember his name but it was Fitzhugh or similar spelling. He has continued to bash our football program over the last several years. KR wrote a rebuttal in the American Press in the Sat-Sunday edition. Good job Keith, thanks so much.

  4. someone said Brandon Murray was the best transfer in our history yesterday. Today Gazzalo said “ He is now for the next few hours or day or so”, which tells me we have a really good experienced big about to be signed.   Looks like Willy the Kid trying to build a roster to win the SEC instead of the SLC. 😉

  5. Until someone has a player of the year in conference season like Shahada Wells did my vote is for him as second best transfer but with Bill Reigel,Duke, far and away best with Jerome Batiste,Mississippi State,John Rudd,LSU,Fred Chaufold,Grambling and Mike Marshal,Kansas, honorable mention.Help me with some others that were best players on a good team,Team Zem.By the way that was a great thought to consider our best transfers that Gazzolo does not have the history here to consider like All Everything Bill Reigel.
