COWBOY’S GRANT ANDERSON CALLED UP BY RANGERS

Relief pitcher Josh Sborz went on the DL on Sunday and the Texas Rangers called up McNeese alum Grant Anderson to fill the roster spot.

PURDUE VS UCONN FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT

I have UConn in my bracket to win the national title, so I expect them to wrap it up tonight. Las Vegas has the line at UConn -6.5 and the Over and Under is 145.5. I would have to take Purdue and the points.

JOHN AIKEN GETTING BACK INTO COACHING

Former McNeese basketball coach John Aiken is headed back into the coaching profession. Aiken has been selling cars for the Tarver Company and dabbling in an NIL business but got an offer to return to the bench at Tennessee-Martin. John previously coached at UT-Martin in 2014-2016.

  1. Kentucky coach,John Calipari is poised to take the Arkansas job.I tracked a number of sports writers in Arkansas and nationally on who was in the running for the Arkansas job.I did not see Calipari on any of their dance cards.Credit Arkansas on deft maneuvering to probably get their man.By the way a couple college coaches also called me,as this type of talk runs rampant at the final four which I covered nine times for the Sporting News in the 80’s and 90’s ,neither mentioned Calipari.

  3. Did you see the big coaching shakeup. Calipari is leaving Kentucky and taking the job at Arkansas. They interviewed Paul Fienbaum and he mentioned that Nate Oates , Alabama , may take the job at Kentucky. Oates just signed a new contract , with a $20 million buyout , but the feeling is that Kentucky will save somewhere in the neighborhood of $13 million , because ( the talk this morning was ) Kentucky was going to fire Calipari and was on the hook for $33 million ( guaranteed money ). So , if they hire Oates , pay the buyout of $20 million , they don’t fire Calapari and cost themselves $33 million , they end up saving $13 million . With this kind of money being thrown around , if we can keep coach Wade for one more season , count us “LUCKY”. GEAUX POKES!!!

  4. I watched the Field of 68 podcast, they said that Sankey doesn’t want Wade back in the SEC as long as he is under the show cause penalties. Maybe we can survive the last few turns of the carousel for this year. I think next year Wade and McNeese are both going to get paid.

  5. I have come to not like falling dominos, especially those that have to do with coaching changes.I do think Will Wade is here for another year and his family is very happy in Lake Charles with good schools, housing, facilities, doctors and NIL support much better than some name schools like Marquette. He also has a very supportive AD and President and hopefully Wade Rousse as President in future who is very supportive.Great fan support at games also is a plus. The rumors about Vandy and Arkansas were way off and its time to support the program. I got my yearly call to help sponsor the mens basketball camp.I gladly said I would sponsor again as it helps kids that attend and the coaches and sometimes players who participate.Help sponsor if you can.
