McNeese Football Adds Two Transfers

TreVonte Citizen is coming home. The 4-star back out of LCCP made the announcement on Thursday.

Citizen transfers to McNeese with four years of eligibility remaining, after a serious knee injury forced him to miss each of the past two seasons at Miami. Tre worked hard to rehab the knee and was cleared to play in November and he suited up for the final two ball games. Citizen participated in spring drills and appears to be nearing his old self.

Citizen was the eighth-ranked running back in the Class of 2022, the 11th-ranked overall recruit in the State of Louisiana, and the 133rd-ranked recruit in the nation overall out of high school.

Shoes Brinkley is a 5’9 180 cornerback who has milked the system much like many recent athletes searching for fame and fortune. “Shoes” was an all-state player in Philidelphia back in 2020. He transferred to national power Mater Dei of Santa Anna, California. He made several all-star teams and was recruited by 21 football programs. However, that was not good enough, so he reclassified to 2022 and played at a prep school in South Carolina. The offers were not as strong as the previous cycle, so he signed with Delaware. He left UD for Myrtle Beach SC College. Brinkley did run track at the prep school and put up some good times.

  1. Wonderful news all around for McNeese athletics!

Houston is a mess. Millions are without power and this could last weeks after hurricane force winds blew through. I am blessed as I received lots of rain, but no damage or power loss. Praying for those affected by this horrible storm. I thought I had heard four people lost their lives, but I can’t verify it. Glad to know you are OK and survived this, Zem!

  2. The new fitness center is a huge plus for “ALL” athletes at McNeese. The men and women of McNeese athletics are being provided with the best known tools to help build their bodies to elite status , now the mental aspect needs to follow. Glad to hear you and your wife made it through the weather. I pray she can overcome her “trials and tribulations”. I still , to this day , try and practice what my doctors at MD Anderson instilled in me. They can do all they can, but without a “positive attitude” by the patient , their job becomes impossible. 3. It’s so gratifying to see McNeese moving diligently to rebuild and remake the campus. Personally, I was involved with my time and treasure as with so many others on “rebuilding” the Jack Doland Fieldhouse. Seeing the “excellence with a personal touch” continue to come to fruition is deeply gratifying. The Navarre Power Center just adds to the athletic campus that continues to shine.

Sometimes, it only takes a spark to get a fire going, and I was glad to be involved with so many that had the vision. Geaux Pokes.

You and Carol remain in my prayers. Blessings.
