TUESDAY

Today is a big day for my wife and I as the doctors are planning on releasing her from the hospital today. It has been 14 days since the surgery, so it has been a roller-coaster ride. Thanks to all who have prayed and thought of us through this rough time. God is good! Thanks to Gene Harrington for dropping by and taking me to lunch which was a treat to get out of the hospital and talk with someone with many of the same interests.

We have to remain in Houston another week by doctor’s orders, but our family in the area has been very generous with allowing us to stay. Ditto for family members in the Lake Charles area who have provided support and supplies.

THE PORTAL CLOSES TODAY FOR UNDERCLASSMEN.

The college football spring transfer window‘s closing date of April 30 applies only to underclassmen.

Grad transfers will be given an extra day — through Wednesday, May 1 — to enter their name into the portal, multiple sources clarified to 247Sports.

Graduate transfer rules have shifted considerably over the past week. Previously, grad transfers were not subject to the NCAA’s transfer windows. They were allowed to enter the portal at any time.

A record number of players are in the football portal. The exact number today is 3634. There have been a handful of football players to enter the portal at McNeese and they have quickly filled those positions with new transfers. As predicted in the middle of basketball season, Nasir Mann was not being used and would enter the portal. He entered the portal on Monday. Will Wade has more than filled any losses to the portal.

Former 2022-23 PG Trey English has found a new home at Nicholls State. Dionjahe Thomas has found his home in Baton Rouge at Southern. Walk-On Wesley Fields has been offered at Mississippi College.

McNeese has added the following with room for one more signing.

Bryant Salebangue 6′ 8 PF Arizona State 3-star

Joe Charles 6-8 F ULL Carencro 3-star, MVP at ULL 2024

Sincere Parker 6’3 SG St.Louis University 4-star 16 PPG, JUCO All-American in 2021

Brandon Murray 6’5 SG LSU, Georgetown, Ole Miss, 4-star at IMG Academy,

  1. I really like Trey English. I met his grandmother in Katy (she traveled from her home state to several of his games), and then later I met him at a volleyball match. I’m glad he found a place to play, but I hate when players I like end up at conference rivals.

Thanks for the great news about Carol!

  2. Saw an internet rumor of the Ole Miss Center may sign, he stands 7ft 230lbs Moussa Cisse and is close friends with Brandon Murray and was a NBA first round projection coming out of high school. But no telling, he may have never even spoke to anyone at McNeese.
